The cervical spine consists of seven vertebrae known as C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, and C7. These vertebrae comprise the base of your skill down to the thoracic spine. They affect everything from your nervous system and brain to your thyroid gland and shoulders. If you're experiencing headaches, neck pain, or anything else in this general area, your cervical spine may require treatment.

Understanding spinal misalignment

Patients of all ages are welcome to Schmidt Chiropractic Clinic! We have been serving the Johnson County area for over 32 years and look forward to helping you.

Your upper and middle back is known as the thoracic spine. This section of your spine has 12 vertebrae, ranging from T1 – T12. Your stability is due to your thoracic spine. Your thoracic spine affects the center of your body ranging from your arms and esophagus down to your small intestines. Common effects include stomach troubles, gastritis, digestive problems, and more.

How does your thoracic spine affect you?

The lower part of your spine, the lumbar spine, is the most powerful part of your spine. This section gives you the strength and power to lift, twist, and bend. It consists of five vertebrae known as L1, L2, L3, L4, and L5. These vertebrae affect your legs, thighs, feet, ankles, and lower internal organs. At the base of your lumbar spine are your sacrum and coccyx vertebrae.
